Rob Frayne and Paul Rainville are a sharp, inventive creative team whose work blends musical daring with theatrical wit. Frayne, an Ottawa based composer and saxophonist and Rainville, a Halifax based actor/writer have built a longstanding partnership defined by curiosity, humour, and a shared love of storytelling through performance. Their collaborations with the Juno nominated Angstones produced audience favourites such as The Hockey Show and a gleefully irreverent take on The Sound of Music, both showcasing their talent for mixing satire, musicianship, and theatrical play.
The duo reunited in 2023 to write and perform in the sold out premiere of Ottawa Suite, presented at the GCTC. That production reaffirmed their ability to create work that is musically rich, theatrically bold, and deeply connected to the communities and histories that inspire them. Together, Frayne and Rainville continue to craft performances that surprise, entertain, and push at the edges of genre.
