Paid Opportunities
Theatre Marketing Coordinator
The Gladstone Theatre wishes to hire a marketing individual, with the primary assignment to market a stage play that will be selected to run during the week of Sept 6th to 12th.
The play will be performed by a local, emerging and equity-deserving theatrical company.
Selection of the play is not yet complete. As such, there is a possibility that the play will be Francophone; in that case, fluency and skills in French will be required. Additionally, knowledge and familiarity of the Chinese theatre audience’s market may be valuable.
The goal is to successfully market the play, to maximize house sizes, and ticket sales.
The early September timeframe is notorious for low theatre attendance.
The role and responsibilities for the marketing individual include, but are not limited to:
- Create the marketing strategy for the play
- Be consistent with the “look and feel” of current Gladstone marketing material
- Execute the marketing strategy, using the Gladstone’s tools and resources, and/or alternative tools and resources of your recommendation
- Educate Gladstone staff and advisors on the marketing strategy that is developed
- a new and novel “look and feel” may be acceptable for the marketing campaign.
In this case, an evolution plan to potentially adopt the new “look and feel” to Gladstone’s current image shall be provided. - Participate in a post-mortem on the results of the marketing campaign, after the close of the show’s run
Performance assessment criteria will consist of:
- high house attendance during the show run, greater than 500 tickets sold for the show run
- metrics of high response and engagement from marketing items, such as social media hits, queries, etc.
The contract duration is from the date of hire, approximately July 20th, to Sept 12th, plus the post-mortem (maximum 4hrs, no later than Sept 28th).
The contract value is $2,500.total, with a flexible work schedule (estimated average 12.5 hours/week @ $25/hr over 8 weeks).
Note that there could be additional marketing assignments if mutually agreed, such as for a music series, and other plays that are upcoming in The Gladstone Theatre’s 2026-27 season. Any additional assignments will come with additional remuneration.
Please send your cover letter and resume to: work@thegladstone.ca
The closing date for applications is 12:59pm July 15th, 2026.
The Gladstone Theatre team is deeply committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities. We strive to create an environment where all staff feel valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. Theatre is a celebration of human stories. We value yours.

Volunteer Opportunities
The patron experience is very important at the Gladstone and our good work is only possible with support from our front-of-house volunteers. These dedicated community members help advance the Gladstone mission by greeting patrons, scanning tickets, managing the coat check, helping patrons find their seats, keeping the theatre tidy, and aiding patrons as needed during a show.
Check out our volunteer training video to learn more. If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Elfrieda Bock, Volunteer Coordinator, at volunteers@thegladstone.ca.
