Diana Goodman, a thirty-something suburban wife and mother, struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that her illness and the attempts to alleviate it have on her family. The Broadway hit musical also addresses such issues as grief, suicide, drug abuse and the challenges facing contemporary psychiatry. Despite the sombre subject matter it is a story full of hope and humour told through a soaring rock musical score.
